    March Council Meeting

The March Council meeting was quite productive and resulted in the following motions and initiatives:

    1. Passed a motion to call an associate pastor from the Seminary and work towards calling the pastor this summer (2007).   This will need to be vetted through the Needs Assessment Committee and approved by the congregation on April 1st.
    2. Passed a motion to establish a Parish Health Ministry, which will be led by Ron Herman and report to the Care Board.
    3. Approved 2 Golf tournaments as official SOTH Outreach activities - The Leber Deaf Camp golf Tournament and the Tony Trujillo Fellowship Tournament (www.tontrujillogolftournament.com).
    4. Adopted the ProtectMyMinistry program to screen all SOTH workers that work with Children
    5. Approved usage of our facilities once per month for local Girl Scout Leadership meetings.
    6. Approved a Facilities Usage Policy that will give the Church staff more discretion in approving usage of our facilities by different community groups.
    7. Approved purchase of Alarm system for the Church

So what's the deal with House #2?

During our congregational meeting in December we resolved to lease House #2 as quickly as possible for the longest term possible.   Yet it has not been leased and it is March, so what's the deal?

We have contracted with a management company and are offering the property for lease through that company.  Since the beginning of the year, we have had only one serious inquiry.  Part of the problem is the rental market.  According to move.com (www.move.com) there are 601 rental properties available in Rancho Cucamonga, 66 homes in our price range.

But part of the problem was how our property was being offered.  Thanks to the great wortk of a few "SOTH secret shoppers" we have made some changes, including where we are advertising, what information is available to prospective renters, and price, which we have reduced.

We are hopeful that these changes will help find a qualified renter for the property.
